Welcome to the Wonderful World of Biology!
Dear OHS Knights,
I am so glad that you're in my biology class!!! I absolutely love my subject area and can't wait to dig in! It's going to be an incredible year, so let's do this! I hope you are ready to learn a lot about the living world around us.
Biology literally means the "study of life". Come to class with high expectations! Read ahead and ask me questions. I cannot wait to unravel this wondrous world of biology for you. It truly is an honor to teach at OAKLEAF HIGH SCHOOL! I am so blessed to be able to come to work and actually love what I do. I love to teach. And, more importantly, I am so passionate about TEENAGERS! Not only have I taught science in Clay County for the past fifteen years to students in 8th through 12th grade...but I also went to school in Clay County when I was a teenager!!! It is such a privilege to teach here. I truly hope you enjoy this class.
My objective is to take this subject (which many deem as too 'intellectual' and 'difficult' for the 'common teen') and de-mystify it. Everyone has the ability to learn science concepts!!! It's all about how you apply yourself. Just have faith and believe that you can! So, my hope is to teach you strategies on how to study and break down these science concepts so that you can get the most out of our class! It's going to be awesome. I expect every single one of my students to apply themselves. I expect every one of my students to not only pass biology this year, but reach their full potential! You CAN do this!
On my end I vow to be fair and consistent. I will try my very best to create lessons that will motivate you to learn this great subject of biology. Together, with the support of parents and guardians, we can truly make this the best year ever! Let's start and end this year with a bang! Move forward...100%, no regrets. There is no reason to get down on yourself. Remember, someone who never made mistakes has never tried anything new. You may have to apply yourself in new ways. Learning is not always easy. But, in the end, you will prove yourself worthy of the grade you earned! You will prove to yourself and everyone else...that you DID it! Not only did you make the grade, but you did so with enthusiasm and integrity. Now let's have an awesome year!
Sincerely,
Miss Butler :)
